Chronicle To Books The Fire Thief (Fire Thief Trilogy #1)

Now available in paperback, The Fire Thief hilariously reimagines the myth of Prometheus, the Greek demigod who stole fire from the gods and gave it to the human race. To escape the gods' revenge, Prometheus travels through time to Eden City in 1858. There, he befriends a young orphan, actor, and petty criminal named Jim. When Jim runs into trouble with the law, Prometheus is torn -- if he uses his powers to get his friend out of trouble, he will betray his hiding place to the gods. Terry Deary masterfully interweaves two plots, with action jumping at a whirlwind pace from Mount Olympus to the seedy taverns and elegant mansions of Victorian Eden City. Packed with puns, wisecracks, and sarcastic footnotes, The Fire Thief turns Greek mythology into a laughing matter.

Rate Based On Books The Fire Thief (Fire Thief Trilogy #1)
It was not the best book I have read even though it's under my favourite genre. There was a small plot twist towards the end and not much of a story.

One of the best books I have read all year.

I really enjoyed this book and its take on Greek mythology. I like how it included many elements, not just the story about Prometheus stealing fire from the gods and giving it to the humans. I also like how instead of making the book in the perspective of Prometheus, it was in the perspective of the orphan Jim. I read the book very quickly, and it wasn't all that long. There were quite a few interesting twists, and the one that stands out to me was not explained until afterwards (the footnotes

I liked the fast paced story but I am a bit tired of asides to the reader a la Lemony Snicket and witty footnotes. Some kids enjoy thta stuff though. The characters are amusing and I'm for anything that introduces Greek mythology to kids in a fun way.

The Greek Mythology Novel, The Fire Thief by Terry Deary tells a story about how the Greek Titan, Prometheus, stole fire from the gods and gave them to humans. Once Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to the humans, he was chained to a rock for 200 years as a punishment by his cousin Zeus, getting his liver torn out by a fury for 100 years. Prometheus was given a task to go find a true human hero by Zeus the lightning god that rules the sky in Greek Mythology. Prometheus meets and

This is a YA book that I will recommend to young readers who like The Percy Jackson books. It lacks the sophistication of Riordan's books but has a similar humour. The threads of Greek mythology and flawed heroes are picked up nicely. It's a comparatively easy read after the bigger books of the Riordan series, especially for younger readers.
